After you have sent your application, you should start preparing for the audition.
The audition takes place as follows
When you arrive, you register at the reception. You will get a number. This attaches easily and must be visible on your top/t-shirt/jazz pants/jogging pants, so that we can easily find you again on our lists along the way. The numbers of those who have been successfull will be posted/published on our website.
We want you to do your best at our auditions, and that day should be a good learning experience as well.
Good preparation is a key when you arrive to an audition. Read our general tips below. Please contact us if you have any further questions about the audition.
You will be tested in
- Dance (Duration approximately 75 minutes)
- Song and Monologue (Duration about 10 minutes)
- Dance (whole group)
The dance audition is mainly jazz-based. We are looking for basic skills, general physique, understanding of the subject and the ability to learn choreography. If you have not danced before, do not worry – we are also looking for students with potential for development within the profession.
There is a warm-up session first before doing movement across the floor.
Finally, you learn a short movement combination that is performed in smaller groups.
You choose one of the three monologues, which have been selected for your gender. The text should be memorized and performed in front of the audition panel, and you choose if you want to sing or do your monologue first.
Select two of the songs that have been selected for your gender, one up-tempo and one ballad. You can do both at the audition, but we may stop you along the way. This does not necessarily mean that you have performed below par, but we may have heard all we need to make a decision.
